SL-171

Description

SL-171 Moly grease is a premium grade grey-black Moly-lithium 12-HAS grease. It contains special functional additive molybdenum disulfide which will impart a long-lasting film on working surfaces.
It also resists water washing and has excellent anti wear properties resulting from the solid lubricant effect of the Moly. The molybdenum disulfide also serves as a running in and smoothing agent.

Application
SL-171 Moly grease is recommended for high load and high temperature industrial and automotive machineries. It is excellent for lubricating motors, trucks, trailers, construction equipment, open gears, CV/Plugging/fixed ball joints, anti-friction/ clutch/ plain bearings, chains/conveyer chains and where heavy load, strong vibration and water contamination may be a problem.

Characteristics
The lubricating ability of SL-171 Moly grease was made from high quality base oil, thickener and additives. This grease has been formulated to give better protection against wear, rust, oxidation and corrosion. It is compatible with most conventional greases. SL-171 Moly grease has excellent mechanical and thermal stability.

Methods of applications
Before adding SL-171 Moly grease to a bearing, the bearing should be purged of all existing grease, oil, or preservative oils used to protect it during storage. If left in bearing, these hydrocarbon oils can form carbon deposits at higher temperature, which may accelerate bearing failure. After bearing surfaces are cleaned, they should be lubricated/wiped with SL-171 and properly stored to prevent corrosion. Chlorinated solvents should not be used because they can leave chlorine, which can cause corrosion. Proper lubrication is achieved by using the correct amount of grease. Too little grease in the bearing causes premature failure.

Usable temperature range for continuous service is -20°C to 140°C (-4°F to 284°F). With frequent relubrication up to 182°C (360°F)
