SL-140

EXTREME PRESSURE OPEN GEAR GREASE

OPEN GEAR GREASE

  • EXTREME PRESSURE
  • Up to 88 lbs
  • LOAD CARRYING

Description

SL-140 Open Gear Grease is premium grade high temperature grey-black moly-graphite lithium 12-HAS grease specially developed to provide maximum reduction in friction and wear on open gears.
It has good anti-rust and anti-oxidation properties, and the presence of Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) and Graphite give good extreme pressure results. SL-140 Open Gear Grease has outstanding load-carrying and adhesion properties (tacky texture) and it will stick (will not easily fling off) where it is applied.

Application
SL-140 Open Gear Grease is specially developed to lubricate high load and high temperature open gears. It can also be used for trucks, ball mills, shovels, girth gears, trailers, construction equipment, chains/conveyor chains and where heavy loaded lubrications are required.

Characteristics
The lubricating ability of SL-140 Open Gear Grease was made from high quality base oil, thickener and additives. This high versatile grease has been formulated to give better protection against wear, rust, oxidation and corrosion, thereby extending the life of equipment while lowering maintenance costs.

Methods of applications
Before adding SL-140 Open Gear Grease to a bearing, the bearing should be purged of all existing grease, oil, or preservative oils used to protect it during storage. If left in bearing, these hydrocarbon oils can form carbon deposits at higher temperatures, which may accelerate bearing failure. After bearing surfaces are cleaned, they should be lubricated/wiped with SL140 Open Gear Grease and properly stored to prevent corrosion. Chlorinated solvents should not be used because they can leave chlorine, which can cause corrosion. Proper lubrication is achieved by using the correct amount of grease. Too little grease in the bearing causes premature failure.

Usable temperature range for continuous service is -20°C to 140°C (-4°F to 285°F). With frequent relubrication up to 182°C (360°F).

Key Properties

Caution
Do not ingest. If this should occur, drink large volumes of water and seek medical attention.
Always keep container sealed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.

SL-140 Benefits

Check out the key features

Protect Equipment
High viscosity oil component provides excellent lubricating film strength for the bearings

Prevents Failure in Wet Conditions
The thickener and additives used gave high water resistance makes it ideal for under water applications or in wet conditions

Reduces Maintenance and Minimizes Equipment Failure
Moly and graphite content provides residual lubrication should the grease file be destroyed. Maximum wear protection
